IKCO announces Samand export prices

TEHRAN, July 2 (MNA) -- National automaker Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) here Sunday announced the prices of national car Samand for importing countries.

According to the statistics, out of 6,000 cars the IKCO exported last year, some 40 percent, 2,500, was Samand.

Samand is predicted to constitute 50 percent of the current year’s 30,000 export-bound cars.

The IKCO is currently planning to export the sedan to some 30 countries, including Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, the CIS states (Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and Tajikistan), and Africa.

Since 2006, some 1,000 Samands have been exported to Russia, about 1,000 to Azerbaijan, and some 500 to Ukraine.

The company has fixed $15,000 for exporting Samand to Ukraine, $12,000 to Russia, $14,000 to Azerbaijan, $11,000 to China, and $14,000 to Syria.

The IKCO is also planning to export 3,000 Samands to Turkey.

According to the schedule, some 400 Samands will also be exported to Algeria within the next 15 days.

To the IKCO officials, the company should gradually change the brand of its export-bound cars from European makes to Iranian automobiles if it aims to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) with fewer difficulties.

A Samand assembly line is also scheduled to be launched in the West African state of Senegal after inclusive programming.

Iran’s Mines and Industries Minister Alireza Tahmasbi will inaugurate a Samand assembly line in Belarus next month.
